History:
Kızlarağası Hanı was built in 1744 by Hacı Beşir Ağa, who served as the Kızlarağası (Chief Eunuch of the Imperial Harem) during the reigns of Ahmed III and Mahmud I.
The name of the caravanserai comes from Hacı Beşir Ağa.
The caravanserai was an important trade center when it was built.
Losing its importance over time, the caravanserai was restored between 1988-1993 and turned into a tourist bazaar.
Architecture:
Kızlarağası Hanı has a plan close to a square rectangle and its parts facing the courtyard are two-storeyed.
It is a magnificent caravanserai with two single-storey bedestens named Çuha and Cevahir and a courtyard of approximately 500 square meters.
The courtyard of the caravanserai has a unique portico with 5 columns and 6 rows of arches, and projecting bay windows with consoles on the facade.
Cut stone and wood materials were used in the construction of the caravanserai.
